I am a music nut. I get so frustrated now because oft times I will think of something I want to listen to, and go to get it out of the cabinet, only to discover that I don’t have it anymore. My wife and I had very similar tastes in music and we had an extensive collection. Of course when we split our life together, the collection had to be split. I remember the day, not very long ago, when I had to accomplish this very difficult task. Tears filled and overflowed my eyes many times as I looked at each LP or CD and made the decision to put it in her pile or mine. Music evokes memories. She came into the room several times and lovingly told me I could take it all, which of course I wouldn’t agree to.

Luckily I ended up with all of the Nanci Griffith and Dixie Chicks. –Grin- But she got all of the Mary Chapin Carpenter and K D Lang. Oh well, there are people around these boards with much bigger problems than mine.

We had a bird once that got eaten by our cat. Somehow he got into the cage and got that little bird while we were out. When we got home all we found was one little birdie foot on the rug. My wife freaked and started crying for the poor little bird. Do you know what my sage advice was? "Just think about the cat, think how enjoyable that was for him. So let’s just be happy for the cat." Anyway that became our motto whenever we had times of trouble. “Be happy for the cat.”

And those were her parting words to me the day we split up our house. She had moved in with another man (they bought a house together) whom she had been in love with before she met me. She said she was very happy with him, and that I should “Be happy for the cat.” Yikes, I don’t know why I’m telling this. I feel like I could cry right now.
